Power-up Sequence
1. Apply -VIN = -6V [-6V to -10V] 2. Apply +VIN = +7V [7V to 12V] 3. Optional: VCTL-IN (-4.5V = Max Gain, 0V = Min Gain) Note: VCTRL is set to max gain (-4.5V) through a 10k Ohm pull-down resistor if left open. 4. Apply the RF input signal Power-down Sequence 1. Turn off the RF input signal 2. Adjust VCTL-IN to 0V 3. Adjust +VIN to 0V 4. Adjust -VIN to 0V Theory of Operation The positive input voltage is regulated to provide VDD = +5V to the RF amplifier. The negative input voltage is regulated to -4.5V for VCTL from which the -2V gate voltage is derived. The -2V VG is actively controlled by the HMC981 to become less negative until an IDD of 120mA is achieved. IDD is actively maintained by continuously adjusting VG during operation. |
